I would still like to know why we haven't seen a post from Mr. Ragaini. Yeah, we saw the article but that was a long time ago. If this type of thing had happened on BFG (and it has) we would have seen a very quick response from picman aka Paul Thelen, the founder of BFG (and he has -- many times).

I'm just looking for some response from Toby that lets us know he's aware of how we feel and that our concerns are being considered.

I understand your need to feel that you have been heard, I would feel very much the same way.

I assure you that all the concerns and opinions expressed here are passed on. This is, in part, what I do.

I have this responsibility because it is imperative that our developers and engineers have the time and space to focus on improving our game, its features, and even implementing some of the features and changes that have been requested by the community.

I am going to have to ask you to trust me, I am here to pass on your concerns and feedback. This is something I take very seriously and I will not falter in that commitment.

Hmm OK, had a long post prepared but decided against it. Long and the short of it is, personally I don't doubt your role in this Solice, nor your dedication and feelings for the community; you already know that.

It's just that this keeps happening sooooooo IMHO, it's what happens after the concerns are fed back that seems to be the issue. ETA, not that I expect you to post the minutes to any meetings you understand!

Perhaps Mr O'Brien would like to pop in and post something!

Thank you Solice. I do believe that you take these things seriously and that they are passed along. Perhaps those of us who came from got spoiled by Paul. It certainly would be nice to hear from Toby, though. I'm not asking for an ongoing dialogue. Just an acknowledgement.

My letter to Mr Ragaini -

    Greetings Mr Ragaini,
I would like to thank you and your colleagues for designing such an amazing game as Faunasphere. I was pleased to see that the evolution of the game was partly based on the players feedback. It is nice to know you are grateful for all the suggestions that made Faunasphere what it is today.

From a business point of view, I thoroughly understand your decision to launch a version of Faunasphere through Facebook. It only stands to reason that the more players you have the more money you can make. After all, making money is the purpose of any business. However, I fail to see how, even after careful consideration, you felt your decision has benefited the current platform (.com) players by being able to access the game from several platforms. By my count, you have only two platforms, not several, and I do not see any player benefits. The .com players seemed to be perfectly happy playing through .com. The only benefit I see is to your business, not the players.

I have no doubt you made the wrong decision.

Currently, I am unable to see how you have strived to create identical functionality across the two platforms. It is only identical if I have access to those gameplay items without having to join Facebook. Just being able to use those items in .com does not make it identical. The perception among a majority of .com players is that you are favoring one platform over another. Many of the perks being offered through Facebook have been suggested by the .com players but have been ignored as updates to the .com platform. This is most disappointing. Perhaps you need to increase the size of your small team on .com to satisfy those player who helped make Faunasphere the success that it is now.

I realize anyone can create a Facebook account free of charge. But, besides the obvious profits to you, I do not see why you are encouraging players to use this option in order to play the game. This truly makes it appear as if you are favoring the Facebook platform over .com and leaves the impression that .com may not be an available platform in the near future. I know my particular needs would be easily addressed by making all gameplay items and perks available for purchase to all players as opposed to a select group. Maybe your efforts to ensure that any gameplay items acquired could be used regardless of login would have been better directed towards ensuring all gameplay items and perks were obtainable through Faunasphere.com instead of just Facebook.

In my profession, your letter would have been considered a backwards apology, which goes something like this - We are sorry you screwed everything up, but we will fix it for you. In your case the backward apology would be - We are sorry we used you like we did, but business is business.

    Sincerely,
    gamerplayer

I never tried FB until two weeks ago. The decision by FS to launch through that platform is financial that would be a certainty, the wider community platform is glaringly obvious.

The corporate divisions of companies rarely look behind themselves for the left behind end users and seldom believe in their power to disrupt their plans.

Caution! Good Luck and Hold on to Your Hats!

I would grieve to lose even one friendship that has been grown here with FS.

I feel for the Mods that know how this is headed. This discussion format that we enjoy viewing, whether we know each other or not, is not in FB.

I never thought I'd be in a gaming community, rarely ever crossed my mind, but the truely wonderful ppl that are in this game have opened my eyes and heart. Tears will not be enough to change the tides, I fear.

With Great Respect for all that participate, that are friends and may have become friends, I hope most of you will decide not to leave or be left behind. Love to All

bbrusnica I am so sorry that you are having difficulties and feel so upset with the game. Please reconsider and give it another try. Just ignore the players that are demanding and look for friendship with other players. I would be happy to be a friend. Just send me a friend request if you do reconsider. This game can be so wonderful if you don't let the actions of some players bring you down.....Nancy

    bbrusnica,

Your post made me very sad. I am so very sorry that you feel there is nothing left for you to do but leave the game. If you do decide to stay I, too, would be proud and happy to be your friend.

I was not going to post any more here, on these forums, but found an added item that may be of interest to the posts regarding Facebook.

BBC News have run a story regarding a security consultant who jused a piece of code to scan 100 million FB (1 fifth) users info and publish it to the web. This info has been on pirite sites since yesterday, and being downloaded by the thousand
It was done purely to show how bad FB secrity is, and how badly FB intend to make peoples info public, so as to use the info for advertising methods and purposes..

The info that he published could have been found by googling etc, but his point was to show how easy it is for unscrupulous people to get your info if they want to.
    .
Simon Davies from the watchdog Privacy International told the News it was an "ethical attack" and that more personal information had not been included in the trawl.

"This is a reputational and business issue for Facebook, for now," he said

Facebook statement said that no private data is available or has been compromised and Security consultant Mr Bowes agreed, but added that harvesting this data highlighted the possible risks users put themselves in.
He believes that, if he can do something there are about 1,000 bad guys that can do it too.

He further said that he believed in open disclosure of issues like this, especially when there's minimal potential for anybody to get hurt.

Since it is already public information,he sees very little harm in disclosing it.

Not something i want to continue arguing about, as I dont intend to post more, but thought this might be of interest

That's nonsense. More information was not included because nothing more could be gotten the way that it was captured with the script the hacker used.

Nothing was obtained and captured in the big data collection that is not publicly viewable by anybody who goes on Facebook. The only 'hacker value' to the data collection that was made available as a Torrent is having it all downloaded as a collection so it can be searched through it locally without having to 'touch' the Facebook servers.

That said, it is a data privacy travesty, and people are foolish to allow Facebook access to any personal information but the bare minimum. It isn't at all a secure service, and because of the way the Facebook owners are capitalizing on the information, there's no motivation for them to ever make it a secure service. They get their money by trafficking in your information.

The 'customers' of Facebook are the advertisers and businesses mining the User Information. The 'users' are the 'product', cattle, herded and led around and harvested.

It's sad how many businesses, like Big Fish, are being drawn into the deal.
