    Questions about Buxing for traits

I have some questions for you guys.

I have hatched so many chompers in the last few days that if I'd have sold the eggs I'd be a multi millionaire. Well, in Lux anyway!

The difficulty - I can't get a premium account. The two methods of payment are credit card and paypal...with a credit card. So until they accept e-checks or paypal payments via another source I'm sadly out of luck.

Quite a let down to be honest.

Anyway, as such right now I just have six spaces, so breeding is somewhat restricted.

What I'm trying to do is get chompers with patterns. I haven't got a single patterned chomper from those which carry patterns as a recessive gene.
I was thinking about buxing one to help me along.

Considering that I obviously want traits to pass down eventually, am I better off doing this to a chomper like this:

    Chomper/Dasher
    Solid/Moon

    or

    Chomper/Chomper
    Solid/Solid

Or is it so random that it wouldn't matter? xD

I know i have had better luck with other peoples eggs with patterns and also with buying patters with bux. now if you cant buy a pattern i would be glad to help as long as it is a pattern that cost 3000 bux and we can do a trade for lux? i always can use Lux.

Oh, I can buy my own patterns and stuff! I don't want people thinking I'm asking for them.

I connected my account with FB so I can buy bux with Facebook Cash. But the premium account (which would be awesome for the extra spaces and % off bux items) I can't get.

I'm just not sure if it's worth buxing a chomper/chomper that has solid as the recessive trait vs one that has a pattern as a recessive trait but is chomper/dasher...
I have yet to get a chomper/chomper carrying a recessive trait for a pattern...at least that I'm aware of, I can only gene test so many.

Actually, PayPal does have an option to link your checking account via checks. That way, you can do a straight transfer to pay.
I used to have my eBay account set up this way. It's been a couple years since I've messed with it... But, it's worth looking into.
Also, my husband used Western Union to flush his PayPal account, then applied for a PayPal debit card. It's a hassle, but it worked out. It's a cash option atleast?

Another option, is to open a few free accounts and friend them on your main account. That way, goodie bag prizes can be saved up and sold for Bux. Use the Bux to buy more spaces for your fauna.
I haven't done the FB account thing... But, if you look, you'll find a post about linking different free accounts with Facebook to earn facebook credits towards buying fauna space.
These two things combined can give you a total of 20 spaces. It's not easy by any means as I'm sure it's time consuming. But, once these spaces are bought- they're yours forever!

Keep trying with your Chompers with recessive genes. Hit the marketplace and hatch some C/C ptn/ptn eggs. The pure eggs are never cheap... But, hopefully combined with your Chomper/Chomper Solid/Pattern, they'll hatch what you want.
Inbreeding sometimes works to bring out the recessive.
Breeding back sometimes works to bring out the recessive.

If you're going to buy a pattern, use it on a Chomper/Chomper with Solid/Pattern. That way, you'll end up with a Chomper/Chomper with Pattern/Pattern.

A thing to remember about breeding- is that no matter how much you gene test, no matter how much you try to follow the rules... Mutations happen. Even with a really strong line, you can get surprised. So, there is a little bit of luck mixed in there.
It takes ALOT of hatching to get that perfect fauna. Keep at it. Keep your chin up. Hard work pays off. And, it's even more exciting when it does.

    Oh, yes...
    One last thing...
List some friend gates so we can find you!!!
I happen to have a couple pattern Chomper eggs in my inventory and would be more than happy to leave them with you! I'm sure others would too if we could find you =D

As far as buying patterns, I'd buy a pattern for something that had recessive pattern. The dom only pattern can carry, but I've found the double patterns carry better, in most cases.

My paypal account is set up with my bank account actually - and i have subscriptions to other things online and use it for ebay among other things. Because I don't have a CC for backup, I can't use it here - my only option is to get the paypal debit card. Only thing is, I'm in Canada and debit cards are completely different from credit cards - they are issued through the bank itself, not credit card companies like master card. I've sent a few emails back and forth with customer service (here) and I'll see what other options I might have.

When in the marketplace, how do I tell if the egg is C/C ptn/ptn?

I guess I will keep at it, but bux the appropriate chomper and try for the right eggs!
Thanks for all the great input about getting more spaces as well. You guys have this down to an artform.

Oh, and friends...my giant list of friends so far consists of:

It is definitely a better investment to buy a dominant pattern for a fauna that already has a pattern in the recessive. Though patterns are still prone to mutate back to solid rather than pass on, it increases your chances of passing on a pattern if you have both a dominant and recessive pattern.

If you have your heart set on a double chomper with a double pattern and you list a few people on your friends list, I'd be happy to drop off some chomper eggs from double-patterned parents for you to hatch.

Edit: Dropped off some eggs for you to try out - good luck!

You guys are such a helpful group. And awesome.

I was provided the relevant eggs this evening. After a hatching and leveling blitz, I got my Chomper/Chomper Pattern/Pattern.

Now to see how much I can get the pattern to mutate!

I wanted to post pictures, but my browser (chrome) freezes every time I try to insert a URL. :/

I think people use Flickr to insert pictures?

Scroll through the market place and you'll find eggs with the genome included. Like, you'll see a white dasher egg, but the name is--> Toby (D/Wad, rec:sky, heart) Meaning--> Dasher/Waddler, white/sky, solid/heart.
It means the CareTaker has gene tested so you know what you're getting =)

I sent you a friend invite... I hope you accept

I was trying to do it with photobucket. I'll have to try another one like flickr later.

And I get it now...people rename the parent fauna so you know when you get the egg. Good idea!

Kat - found you on FB!

If you hit space bar, then return after hatching a fauna, it lets you name it later so you have time to gene test.
The profile will pop up again after changing fauna, then changing back- or by visiting another sphere or world.
Even though name changers are priced at 250 Bux (wasn't it 100 before grabbags?) - there's no shortage in the game. I've seen them go for as little as 5 bux, or 10k lux at the marketplace.
I'll leave a couple in your tootem... The grabbags have me stocked on namechangers beyond what I'll ever use
